Story

On Sunday 26th September 2010 myself, Des and 23 of our family and friends will be taking part in the Meningitis Trusts 'Five Valleys Walk' in memory of our little boy, Danny, who died from meningococcal septicaemia on 25th July 2007, aged just 2 and a half. We will be walking 21 miles through the Valleys in Gloucestershire with 2000 other people raising money for the Meningitis Trust. Having taken part in the walk last year with 13 of our friends and family, we are now aware that this is not a 'walk' but a 'trek' and is one of the hardest things we have ever done but to know that we are raising money in memory of Danny keeps us going!!! We raised an amazing £1300 last year and would love to beat that target. There has been a massive break through recently with The Meningitis Trust revealing that research has found Meningitis B (the strain Danny died from) is genetic and this means they are a step closer to finding a vaccine. The money we raise is so important in finding a vaccine for this terrible disease. It means that our beautiful boy didn't die in vain and the money raised in his name could help towards this research. Please dig deep, even if it's only a couple of pound, and sponser us!!! Many thanks Nora & Des

A Massive Thank You!!

28th September 2010
Well 2 days later and we're still aching but the sense of achievement is amazing!! 17 people did the walk in Danny's memory and we had a great day. It was an early, cold start but once we tackled that 1st hill no-one was feeling the cold!! 21 gruelling miles (and many blisters) later we crossed the finish line and I know our little boy was smiling down on each and everyone of us. I know myself that he was the only thing that kept me going for the last 7 miles!! Thank you so much to everyone that took part and to everyone that sponsored us. We believe we have passed the £1,500 mark but won't know for sure until all the money is in so keep checking the site for the grand total!! Will post some photos soon Nora xx
